WILL I HAVE TO PAY FOR NHS TREATMENT?
Unless you are in one of the groups entitled to free NHS dental treatment or help with the cost, you will require to pay 80% of the cost of your NHS dental treatment up to a maximum of £384 per course of treatment. Please note that the NHS Fee structure is complex and varies considerably from patient to patient depending on the treatment required.
Some patients qualify for full or partial exemption from dental charges. It’s always wise to ask if you feel you might be eligible for such an exemption – our staff will be happy to help you.
Who is entitled to free treatment on the NHS?
NHS treatment is free for:
- Everyone aged under 26
- People who are pregnant or have given birth in the last 12 months
- Those with certificated exemption from patient charge due to income or receipt of certain benefits

WHAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON NHS?
On the NHS, not all dental treatments are available for free or at a subsidised cost. Here are some dental treatments and services that might not be fully covered by the NHS:
- Cosmetic Dentistry: Treatments like teeth whitening, veneers, and cosmetic braces are not available through an NHS dentist as they are considered cosmetic.
- Certain Orthodontic Treatments: While orthodontic treatment for children and some adults is available on the NHS, it is typically limited to cases where there is a clear clinical need. Cosmetic orthodontic treatments might not be covered.
- Advanced Restorative Procedures: High-end restorative treatments such as dental implants and advanced crowns or bridges may not be covered by the NHS, or there may be long waiting lists for these procedures.
